Simmer pot

Creating a simmer pot is the easiest way to fill your home with all those warm holiday smells.

Funny story.. I created my first simmer pot this weekend out of desperation. I was trying to make bone broth with the leftover turkey from thanksgiving, and well… I almost burnt down the house. Leaving us with this god awful smell of burnt smoked turkey.

…So I brewed up this snazzy little pot of smell good.

Not only are they fun and pretty, but they leave your home smelling fresh and holiday ready.

Ingredients:

  • one orange sliced
  • half an apple sliced
  • one cup of fresh cranberries
  • 3-5 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 tsp of nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp of whole cloves
  • splash of vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Fill a large pot with water
  2. add in all your simmer pot fixin’s
  3. simmer on low all day

Make sure the water doesn’t get too low, you can add more if it does.

You can save your simmer pot in a mason jar, store it in the refrigerator, and simmer again another day!

Make it your own:

Get creative with your simmer pot!

I’m going to try a citrus blend next time: Lemon, orange, lime, with a sprig of fresh rosemary.

You can keep it simple and do: apple, cinnamon, and vanilla.

Use the fruits, herbs, and spices you love to smell. If you need to, just use what you have on hand.

I hope this simmer pot leaves your home smelling all sorts of fresh and magical.

If you don’t just want to smell all the delicious-ness. Try making my guilt free apple crisp too! These two together will leave your home smelling like a holiday dream!
